A woman
... in harmony with her spirit is like a river flowing. She goes where she will without pretense and arrives at her destination prepared to be herself and only herself. (Maya Angelou)
~ Henri Matisse ~
I have always sought to be understood and, while I was taken to task by critics or colleagues, I thought they were right, assuming I had not been clear enough to be understood. This assumption allowed me to work my whole life without hatred and even without bitterness toward criticism, regardless of its source. I counted solely on the clarity of expression of my work to gain my ends. Hatred, rancor, and the spirit of vengeance are useless baggage to the artist. His road is difficult enough for him to cleanse his soul of everything which could make it more so.

2nd Exhibition

December 9th, 2011

I certainly felt more confident this year and I decided to try something new to my style of painting. That is to work the sunset, the shadow and the notion of close and far. Simple characters and a subtle play of colors. Above all, I wanted to work the amazing  phtalo blue in a sunset contrast.

I’m taking part in the 8th annual Staff and Patient Exhibition at the Royal Brompton Hospital. I have been a patient in this hospital since 2007 and I have met wonderful people among the medical staff and the patients.

The exhibition is from November 2011 to January 2012

I took me years to come to that day and it’s really satisfying. I takes courage to present your work to the public but I’m glad I took this step.

I’m taking part in the 7th annual Staff and Patient Exhibition at the Royal Brompton Hospital. I have been a patient in this hospital since 2007 and the RB&H Arts is a great opportunity for patients, staff and their family.

The exhibition is from November 2010 to January 2011

The price of hard work .

I have always been impressed and amazed at all the weight african women can carry on their head. I also found great elegance in their walk and their clothing !

And if you think there is more to give than to be given, you are absolutely right ;) !

Art is …
... a poetic way to express my deepest self . (Carolle)

The mind of the painter should be like a mirror which always takes the colour of the thing that it reflects, and which is filled by as many images as there are things placed before it.

I've caught this magical landscape and it's the enchantment of it that I'm so keen to render. Of course lots of people will protest that it's quite unreal, but that's just too bad.
